Dundalk Pool League Round-Up
Ferguson’s Red and Black made the journey from the peninsula to Bridge Street on Monday night last to face Harry’s Heroes and Bennett’s respectively in Division Two of the Dundalk Pool League.
Eamonn Boyle recovered from losing the opening frame to beat Joe Crawley to get the Reds off to a flyer but the scores were soon level when Martin Bashford beat Michael McAlister. The away team went in front when Ciaran Crawley maintained his 100% league record to see off Richie Keeley but the scores were level again when Mickey Fee beat Shane McElroy with two excellent finishes. In the decider, Michael Dowdall was the hero for Ferguson’s, beating Don O’Brien to complete a 3–2 victory.
Stablemates Ferguson’s Black were also on their travels and they found themselves 1–0 down against Bennett’s after Ryan Sherry beat Niall Ferguson and the hosts doubled their lead when Owen Myles beat Jim Lyons. The visitors got back into the match when Kevin Rogan beat a disappointing Alan Gartlan but Bennett’s completed their victory when Aidan Kirk beat Tony McGrath. The visitors did salvage a bonus point when David Mulholland beat Aidan McCabe.
Elsewhere, Sean’s Warriors played host to Commercial Destroyers and won the opening four matches through Stephen Gorham, Mal Duffy, Robert Nesbitt and Colin Gray. Fra Rogers won the last game for the visitors to put some respectability on the scoreline.
Sean’s Tavern travelled to play Commercial Blue and the home team went in front when Keith Gorham beat Kevin Cusker. Pat Jackson levelled the match when he easily beat Jason McConville but Davy Moran then beat Peter Duffy to put the hosts back in the driving seat. Andy Gray sealed the victory for the hosts when he beat Pat O’Hare 2–0 and the visitors gained a bonus point when Tony O’Hare beat Jonathan Smith.
Avenue Avengers entertained McGuinness’ and the hosts went in front when John Browne recovered from losing the opening frame to beat Shane Roddy. The scores were level when Anthony McGuinness beat Avengers captain Ciaran McShane but the Avengers took control of the match and won the remaining three games through Glen Duffy, Keith Morris and Danny Carr to complete a 4–1 victory.
